About This Blog

I love foreign language movies & this site is a small attempt on my part to promote these films. This site is aimed at the world cinema novice. I have tried to keep the reviews concise & to the point. If you want expert opinions on these films, I’m sure you will find plenty of in-depth reviews on the web, written by authors with greater knowledge & better writing styles than me. My goal is quite simple, if by writing reviews here one person discovers the brilliance of Park Chan-woo or the brutal magnificence of Martyrs, or any film reviewed here. Then it’s been worth all the hours I put into this site.

All movies are reviewed uncensored & unrated in the way the filmmakers intended them to be seen.

Thank you for taking the time to visit this site.

  1. The header image will return. I was never really happy with the old one. I’m still learning how to fully utilise the photo manipulation software I have. So hopefully soon there will be a new improved header graphic.

  2. What was the name of the site that specialised in censorship that used to be listed on the right? I used to visit when i came here but can’t for the life of me remember it now it’s gone, lol!

    • Melon Farmers! Would forget my head if wasn’t screwed on! lol (I see they’re back now anyway!)

Is it still your intention to re-write some of the reviews? I thought he last few posted have been really great by the way.

  3. I don’t know why the links vanished, strange.
I did go back to the first post (Noroi) & started to work forward, re-writing & polishing. I have got up as far as Lady Vengeance which is next on my list to re-write.
    Thanks for the kind words.

  4. Always nice to see someone else who appreciates the more horror-orientated side of cinema! Love the blog, can’t wait to read more. Anyone who loves Martyrs is ok in my book! Looking forward to trying out some of your recommendations.

    • Thank you so much.Sadly I have not had much time to work on this site lately & have several films waiting to be reviewed. I suppose that is the curse of having to work for a living :)
I will post my list & choices this week. once again thank you for thinking of this site.

  5. Hey there! I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award! Check out my latest post for the info (which will be up ASAP) and keep up the great work!

  6. I see you were already nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award. Well, you’re being nominated again – by me. I presume this unimpressive news, has made your day.

That said, I saw you started following my blog recently, and I am honoured. Your own blog has an incredibly cool concept. Speaking for myself, I always prefer subtitles. Well, a friend of mine always likes to point out, that most grindhouse movies were dubbed. I can put up with that – unless the dubbing is in a language that the actors/actresses weren’t originally speaking.

    • Your nomination of my site has indeed made my day & is much appriciated. As I have stated recently work is leaving me very little time for updating this site (15 straight hours today!) But even if I have to wait until the weekend I will post my nominations & get a new review up.
I have been meaning to comment on one of your reviews. I absolutly loved Red White & Blue too & your review was spot on. I will also add your site to my blogroll links.
Dubbing is a mixed bag with me. I hate most modern movies that are dubbed into English. Yet I grew up with the golden age of Italian splatter & the dubbing on some of those is dreadful, yet I love the movies.
I love your site & am looking forward to having more time to read through it.
      Thanks for the kind words.
